India stocks eyed after Middle East tension boosts oil and inflation risks
Nifty 50 fell 0.6% to 23,914 on Wednesday, while several companies drew attention from deposits, transmission project wins, and planned debenture fundraising.
Indian equity investors are set to watch a list of companies on Thursday, September 3, after key developments and announcements, according to LiveMint Markets. RBL Bank, Power Grid Corporation of India, Paisalo Digital, NHPC, ICICI Bank, India Cements, and Meesho were among the names expected to stay in focus following recent updates.
Trading conditions came after renewed fighting in the Middle East pushed oil prices higher, which in turn raised inflation concerns and expectations of tighter monetary policy, the outlet said. The Nifty 50 closed 0.59% lower at 23,914, after an intraday low of 23,786, while the Sensex ended 0.62% down at 76,469 after dipping to a one-month low.
Broader selling pressure also extended beyond large caps, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and Nifty Smallcap 100 declining 0.53% and 0.37%, respectively. LiveMint Markets said RBL Bank mobilised about $3.40 billion in deposits under the Reserve Bank of India's FCNR(B) swap facility as of August 31, 2026, and Power Grid was declared the successful bidder for a Rajasthan REZ Phase IV interstate transmission project.
Among other company-specific items, Paisalo Digital’s operations and finance committee will meet on September 5 to consider a private placement of non-convertible debentures, NHPC received ₹392.31 crore and €15.36 lakh following arbitration related to BGS-SGS-SOMA, and ICICI Bank completed an additional 2% stake purchase in ICICI Prudential Life Insurance through multiple tranches between July 22 and September 2.
