Oneglobal Broking buys LATAM Reinsurance Brokers to expand in Latin America
The deal will phase out LATAM RE’s name as it becomes fully integrated into the Oneglobal brand, with founder Thomas Julio Arosemena Callan staying in Panama.
Oneglobal Broking said it has expanded its Latin American presence by acquiring LATAM Reinsurance Brokers Corp., an independent reinsurance broker headquartered in Panama City, Panama.
LATAM RE was founded in 2008 and is licensed by Panama’s Superintendencia de Seguros y Reaseguros de Panamá. The broker focuses on tailored reinsurance solutions across multiple business lines, including facultative reinsurance, aviation, marine, property and casualty, construction, surety, power, and financial lines, plus specialized and structured risks.
Oneglobal said LATAM RE’s name will be phased out as the unit is fully integrated into the Oneglobal brand. The LATAM RE team is expected to remain based in Panama City, led by founder and CEO Thomas Julio Arosemena Callan, who will take the title Country Head, Panama and Regional Business Development Lead for Central America.
Oneglobal framed the acquisition as strengthening its footprint in Panama and reinforcing its commitment to Central American and Caribbean markets, citing an ambition to build a leading specialty broking platform in the region. Reinsurance News described the transaction as part of that broader growth strategy, with Oneglobal CEO José Miguel and other regional leaders pointing to LATAM RE’s technical strength and long-standing client relationships across Latin America.
