Trump says renewed Iran campaign “won’t continue for too long”
The remarks come as markets weigh a potential escalation, with risk sentiment typically shifting safe-haven FX such as the dollar and yen.
FXStreet reports that US President Donald Trump said a renewed campaign against Iran will not continue for too long, and that he is prepared to carry out another attack. He also said Iran has been trying to build a rocket system that can drop seamen, and to rebuild radar and missile capabilities.
The same report includes an outlook framework for how investors typically rotate between “risk-on” and “risk-off” positioning around geopolitical stress. In a risk-off environment, it says bonds tend to rise, gold firms, and safe-haven currencies such as the Japanese yen, Swiss franc, and US dollar generally benefit.
It also notes that in risk-on periods, commodity-linked currencies can strengthen as demand expectations rise for raw materials. The report further states that it is tracking the percentage change of the US dollar against major currencies for the day in a table and heat map.
FXStreet describes how the base and quote currencies determine the displayed percentage changes in its heat map, giving an example of US dollar versus Japanese yen to illustrate the calculation method.
