Trump to speak on both nights of Republican convention next week
The expanded schedule shifts Trump’s keynote from Thursday in Dallas to Wednesday and adds remarks after Vice President J.D. Vance on Thursday evening.
US President Donald Trump will speak on both nights of the Republican Party’s unusual midterm convention next week, after a change to his originally planned Thursday keynote in Dallas, according to a party official cited by Reuters.
The official said Trump will deliver the keynote speech on Wednesday and then speak after US Vice President J.D. Vance on Thursday evening, with the shift intended to set the tone for the convention’s full run.
The adjustment reflects internal concerns that the Republican National Committee could struggle to attract members and activists to the event.
Reuters also said Trump is facing weak approval ratings amid voter dissatisfaction over the Iran war and persistent inflation, as Republicans seek to preserve their narrow congressional majorities in the November election.
