Dutch central bank shifts 86 tonnes of gold to London as risks rise
De Nederlandsche Bank said gold kept with the Bank of England is more easily tradable, helping it respond faster in a crisis.
De Nederlandsche Bank, the Dutch central bank, moved 86 tonnes of its gold reserves from storage in the United States and Canada to London, according to CNBC Markets and the Guardian.
The central bank said the relocation is tied to increasing geopolitical unrest, and that holding gold with the Bank of England makes it more readily tradable.
DNB also said the change is intended to improve crisis preparedness, allowing it to deploy reserves more quickly in a severe situation.
