Bridgepoint buys majority stake in delegated authority tech firm VIPR

VIPR processes about 500,000 bordereaux each year, covering roughly $12 billion in gross written premium.

Bridgepoint has acquired a majority stake in VIPR, a London-based provider of technology for the delegated authority insurance market, according to Coverager.

VIPR, founded in 2009, has about 100 employees, and its headcount has risen 8% over the past year. The company’s platform processes around 500,000 bordereaux annually, representing approximately $12 billion in gross written premium.

The investment was made through Bridgepoint Growth. Coverager reports Bridgepoint plans to back additional product development, expand VIPR’s AI capabilities, and support international growth.

Coverager also reports that existing investor Tenzing will fully exit the business, while co-founder and CEO Paul Templar and the management team will reinvest and continue to lead VIPR. The partnership will focus on improving local implementation and providing first-line support across multiple time zones as VIPR expands in North America.
