Daiichi Life Group agrees to buy Fidelity Life Assurance for about $370M
The deal would make Fidelity Life a consolidated subsidiary of Partners Life, expanding Daiichi's sales channels and customer base in New Zealand’s life insurance market.
Japanese insurer Daiichi Life Group has agreed to acquire New Zealand’s Fidelity Life Assurance for about $370 million, as part of its push to expand internationally, according to Coverager.
The acquisition will involve Daiichi purchasing shares of Fidelity Life from Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation and other shareholders, with Fidelity Life set to become a consolidated subsidiary through Partners Life.
Daiichi said the transaction is intended to expand Partners Life’s sales channels and customer base in New Zealand and strengthen its competitive position in the local life insurance market.
The acquisition is expected to be completed between March and July 2027.
