Oak Global CEO says hybrid capital model targets growth amid new risks

The Lloyd’s underwriting firm plans to scale third-party capital and expand its investor base through long-term agreements ahead of the 2026 Monte Carlo Rendez-vous event.

Oak Global CEO and founder Cathal Carr told Artemis that the insurance-linked securities and reinsurance markets are evolving as risk dynamics shift across geopolitics, climate, and artificial intelligence, creating opportunities for new capital structures. Speaking just before the 2026 Monte Carlo Rendez-vous event, Carr said Oak Global’s long-term goal is to scale third-party capital using what he described as a hybrid capital model designed to balance different forms of capital across the stack. Carr said the firm has private equity capital from Bain Capital and capital that comes through from members’ agents, alongside engagement with additional investors. He added that Oak Global is increasingly expanding the breadth of investors using long-term agreements, potentially extending to both traditional FAL investors and newer financial investors entering the industry.
