Blacklisted Inspur kept buying US AI chips for China
A subsidiary of sanctions-hit Inspur continued to obtain Nvidia’s high-end AI chips, despite Washington’s action tied to alleged links to China’s military.
The New York Times Business reports that Washington imposed sanctions on Inspur, a Chinese technology giant, because of the company’s work associated with the Chinese military.
Even after the blacklist, the outlet says Inspur’s subsidiary continued shipping Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips into China, aimed at supporting China’s leading AI firms.
The report frames the situation as a workaround that allowed the flow of top-tier US AI hardware to continue despite the sanctions.
