Hunter Biden launches Base memecoin LAPTOP on Sept. 9
The one billion token supply includes founder holdings locked for six months and 30% earmarked for burns tied to specific political and market milestones, including Democrats winning in 2028.
Hunter Biden will debut the memecoin "LAPTOP" on the Base network on Sept. 9, according to CoinDesk, with the token named after a laptop he left at a Delaware repair shop in 2019.
The total supply is 1 billion tokens. Founders including Biden receive 30% of the supply, locked for six months, and another 20% is set for airdrops in two rounds to wallets that lost money on the TRUMP memecoin, Biden’s Substack subscribers, and a mailing list run by video journalist Andrew Callaghan.
CoinDesk also reports that the remaining 30% is reserved for burning if 30 specified events resolve in the project’s favor. Those criteria include a Democrats win in 2028, a new bitcoin all time high, and LAPTOP’s market cap overtaking TRUMP.
CoinDesk further notes that TRUMP peaked at a $15 billion market cap when released at the start of 2025 before falling to about $600 million at the time of writing, and that Trump disclosures cited $1.4 billion from memecoin and crypto deals last year.
