CPI set for Friday as holiday-short week compresses trading

The four-day session after Labor Day is expected to concentrate moves around Friday’s August CPI release at 8:30am, alongside major earnings and auctions.

Markets are set for a holiday-shortened week that centers on the August inflation read, with Friday’s CPI report scheduled for 8:30am as the most critical release, according to Yahoo Finance.

The condensed schedule, following a Labor Day closure on Monday, is expected to reduce institutional participation and leave market liquidity thinner, which could amplify volatility around key data and earnings.

On Tuesday, Oracle (ORCL) is the week’s main earnings test for enterprise software demand, with investors looking to see whether cloud and AI-related revenue reflect resilience despite ongoing rate hike concerns.

Later in the week, Wednesday and Thursday include consecutive bond auctions, while Thursday brings additional economic data and crude oil inventories, and Adobe (ADBE) also reports earnings, Yahoo Finance said.
