Oil rises as renewed Mideast hostilities stoke prolonged conflict fears

Investors are focused on the risk that further escalation in the U.S.-Iran standoff could keep crude prices supported.

Oil prices extended gains on Tuesday as renewed Middle East hostilities increased concerns about the risk of a longer conflict, according to CNBC Markets.

The latest move comes after the weekend exchange of strikes between the U.S. and Iran, which renewed market worry about supply disruptions.

CNBC World also linked the rise to escalating tensions in the region and the possibility that the situation could persist.
