Russia resumes strikes on Kyiv after a three-day pause
Kyiv authorities said the strikes wounded six people and damaged buildings, including a five-storey residential block.
A wave of explosions hit Kyiv early Tuesday after Russia resumed strikes on the Ukrainian capital following a three-day halt, according to Agence France-Presse via SCMP Economy.
The pause had been ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin as US President Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Moscow and Kyiv over the weekend, the outlet reported.
Kyiv’s mayor Vitali Klitschko said six people were wounded, as the fresh blasts triggered fires and car alarms across the city. The Ukrainian military’s air force reported a missile attack, and Kyiv’s city military administration urged residents to take shelter while air defenses were operating.
Authorities said the strikes damaged buildings across the capital, including a five-storey residential block in the Solomianskyi district, with vehicles also catching fire in the Podilskyi district, SCMP Economy reported.
