Trump disclosed a small stock position in SpaceX after its IPO
The disclosure, covering trades made on June 23, comes about two weeks after SpaceX’s June 12 IPO valued the company at $1.77 trillion.
Yahoo Finance reports that President Donald Trump disclosed purchasing between $15,001 and $50,000 in Space Exploration Technologies Corp., known as SpaceX, shares on June 23, according to a financial disclosure signed August 12 and made public August 22.
The purchase was part of more than 1,000 stock trades Trump made that month and arrived roughly two weeks after SpaceX’s June 12 IPO, which was reported as the biggest U.S. IPO in history and valued the company at $1.77 trillion, per Yahoo Finance citing Reuters.
A White House spokesman, Davis Ingle, said third-party financial institutions manage the president’s portfolio independently, adding that neither Trump nor family members can direct or influence the investments.
While the disclosed position size was described as small relative to SpaceX’s valuation of roughly $2 trillion, Yahoo Finance notes the timing and SpaceX’s government contracting and links to broader administration policy could draw additional scrutiny.
