Bitcoin derivatives turn bullish as spot traders stay cautious
US spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $681.2 million in net inflows over the latest weekly window, but centralized-exchange spot flow stayed net negative at $29.6 million.
Bitcoin’s derivatives market has shifted more bullish, with demand moving toward call options, while spot traders remain hesitant to chase another move above $80,000, according to CryptoSlate, citing Glassnode data.
Glassnode’s Market Pulse showed 25-delta skew swinging to -2.05% from +0.79%, a change that implies calls became relatively more expensive than puts, suggesting traders are paying for upside exposure. At the same time, CryptoSlate noted that centralized-exchange activity has not yet reflected that optimism, with aggressive selling still outweighing buying.
ETF inflows did accelerate, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs adding $681.2 million in net inflows over the latest weekly observation, up from $247.8 million previously. However, Glassnode said spot cumulative volume delta improved but remained negative at $29.6 million, indicating sellers still dominated executed spot flow even as the gap narrowed from the prior week’s -$84.9 million.
The reluctance carried into perpetual futures as well, with perpetual CVD still negative at -$176, even as long-side funding payments declined. CryptoSlate also pointed out that futures open interest remains elevated at $37 billion, meaning leverage has not fully disappeared, but the market has not shown the aggressive long positioning that would typically accompany a convincing breakout.
