weSure acquires Utah Business Insurance Company to expand workers’ comp
The deal follows weSure’s September 2025 acquisition of payroll platform Hourly, and will pair UBIC’s carrier operations with underwriting technology and pay-as-you-go payroll.
weSure Digital Insurance Services has acquired Utah Business Insurance Company, expanding its US workers’ compensation operations. Financial terms were not disclosed.
UBIC, a Utah-based carrier founded in 2006 and headquartered in South Jordan, provides workers’ compensation coverage across industries including construction, transportation, agriculture, manufacturing, retail, hospitality and healthcare. Its offerings include loss control, claims management and workplace safety resources.
weSure said it plans to combine UBIC’s carrier operations with its underwriting technology and Hourly’s payroll capabilities, referencing its earlier September 2025 acquisition of the payroll platform. UBIC founder Ron Nielsen will remain CEO, and UBIC will continue working with its independent agents and policyholders.
weSure writes approximately $1.6 billion in premiums and manages more than $8 billion in assets. The company’s US offerings also include workers’ compensation, BOP, cyber, builders risk and E&S insurance, with coverage purchasable and manageable online by retail agents, wholesalers and small business owners, according to Coverager.
