Celerity Risk adds coverage for personal brand and social media losses

The new endorsement is designed to cover unauthorized use of a name, image or likeness, plus sudden reputational harm and involuntary loss of social media access.

Celerity Risk, part of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, has introduced an endorsement that covers financial losses related to personal brands and social media accounts for creators, athletes, entertainers and other public figures, according to Coverager.

The First Party Brand Reputation and Social Media Interruption Enhancement is intended to apply to defined events such as impersonator accounts, deepfakes, and certain AI generated content involving the unauthorized use of an insured’s name, image or likeness.

It also covers sudden reputational harm and the involuntary loss of access to a social media account following events including account hijacking or identity misappropriation. Covered losses can include crisis communications, reputation management, online media monitoring, and social media related lost income.

Coverage is available through Celerity Risk’s media liability platform and is subject to underwriting guidelines, limits, and individual risk assessment. Celerity Risk also offers products spanning management liability, cyber liability, professional liability, and contractors’ E and O.
