US bans some Canadian goods, adds 50% tariffs on others
The restrictions are set to take effect in three weeks, following Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on $20 billion of US imports earlier on Tuesday.
The White House said the United States will ban certain Canadian products, including dairy items, most alcoholic drinks, and motorcycles, while also imposing 50% tariffs on other goods from Canada, SCMP Economy reported.
The measures will take effect in three weeks and are part of an escalation in the trade dispute between the two countries, SCMP Economy said.
SCMP Economy also reported that the latest US steps came after Canada implemented retaliatory tariffs on $20 billion in US imports earlier on Tuesday.
