US urges Ford to cut ties with Chinese firms over national security
The US Transportation Secretary told Ford that its partnerships involving CATL, Geely, and BYD raise national security concerns, and asked the company to reduce those relationships.
The Trump administration has criticized Ford Motor’s business partnerships with Chinese companies, saying they pose national security concerns, according to SCMP Economy.
US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy sent a letter to Ford CEO Jim Farley stating that Ford’s dealings involving Chinese battery maker CATL and Chinese carmakers Geely and BYD drew “profound concern.”
Duffy urged Ford to cut ties with the Chinese partners, framing the issue as a security risk tied to the company’s relationship with firms central to the auto supply chain.
