150,000-team Advocate Health unifies workers’ comp after merger

Advocate Health’s program consolidates workers’ compensation coverage across six states into a single enterprise model for 150,000 teammates.

Risk & Insurance highlights the 2026 Theo Health Care Award winners, including Advocate Health, which formed after the merger of two of the country’s largest health systems.

The article says Advocate Health assigned the task of unifying the workers’ compensation programs to Melinda Daniel, who built a single enterprise program for 150,000 teammates across six states.

The winners list also includes Aspirus Health, Benchmark Senior Living, Essentia Health, George Junior Republic, and Griffin Health, each described as improving workers’ compensation and employee safety through program rebuilds, prevention and early intervention, integrated approaches, or efforts to reduce injuries and lost workdays.

The Theo Award is described as honoring 28 workers’ compensation programs for excellence and service to workers nationwide, with additional context on broader safety priorities mentioned alongside the winners.
