AI IPO pipeline to pick up ahead of Anthropic’s expected debut

The wave is being weighed against market headwinds including higher oil prices, the Middle East and Ukraine war, and the risk of higher interest rates.

With the US Labor Day holiday over, the IPO market is expected to move into a traditional push toward larger listings later in the year, as companies prepare for public debuts, according to commentary featured in LiveMint Markets citing Bloomberg. While Anthropic PBC is the main focus, the reported lineup also includes AI cloud computing firm Nscale, power supplier Aggreko Plc, and consumer medical technology maker Oura Health Oy.

Executives and dealmakers said companies are not trying to time their filings tightly around Anthropic because market timing remains uncertain. Deutsche Bank’s technology investment banking chair, Ajay Shah, said investor interest could be drawn by areas within AI such as data centers, power cooling, and consumer health. The outlook comes as markets face headwinds, including rising oil prices, war in the Middle East and Ukraine, and the potential for higher interest rates. Renaissance Capital’s Matt Kennedy said some issuers are deciding to wait for more favorable conditions, while others view current conditions as sufficient.

Anthropic’s planned listing is framed as a potential challenge to the record-setting $86 billion-plus IPO by Elon Musk’s SpaceX in June. The article also notes OpenAI is expected to launch what could be among the biggest listings this year or next, and that investors have been willing to support valuations tied to earnings that may arrive years later.
