Stellantis recalls nearly 202,000 Jeep vehicles over tire monitoring issue

The recall covers 201,976 vehicles and involves an update to the radio frequency hub software to restore tire-pressure warning compliance.

Chrysler parent Stellantis is recalling 201,976 Jeep vehicles in the United States after a software error linked to the tire-pressure monitoring system, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Sept. 9.

According to NHTSA, the malfunction may prevent the system from detecting low tire pressure or illuminate the warning light, which could increase crash risk and cause affected vehicles to fail to comply with U.S. federal tire-pressure monitoring safety requirements.

The regulator said the recall includes certain Jeep Wagoneer, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Cherokee 4XE, and Grand Wagoneer models, as well as additional specified variants including Wagoneer L, Grand Wagoneer L, Cherokee, and Grand Wagoneer L PHEV.

NHTSA said dealers will update the radio frequency hub software free of charge to remedy the issue.
