Nevada full-coverage auto premiums climb to about $3,039 a year

Insurify projects Nevada could approach $3,090 by year end, after 2024 brought the nation’s highest loss ratios, including State Farm paying $89 in claims per $100 of premium.

Nevada drivers are seeing auto insurance costs rise again, with the average full-coverage policy running $3,039 a year in June, according to Insurify’s mid-year rate report cited by Insurance Business. The figure is up 4% since the start of 2026 and far above the national average of $2,237, and Insurify expects Nevada to end the year near $3,090.

The increase reflects a difficult period for insurers in the state. Insurance Business notes that in 2024 Nevada auto insurers posted the third-highest loss-to-premium ratio in the country, based on NAIC-data based reporting, and State Farm, the state’s second-largest auto writer, paid $89 in claims for every $100 of premium versus a national average of $66.

Carriers have responded with rate actions, including State Farm’s 2.7% auto increase in January, American Family’s 12% rise, and Allstate’s 3.5% increase, the outlet reports. Nevada’s insurance commissioner Ned Gaines told the Las Vegas Sun that the core issue is driver behavior, pointing to speeding, distraction, and limited defensive driving.

Insurance Business also connects the pricing to road risk. Nevada recorded 18,109 crashes in Las Vegas Metro’s jurisdiction in 2025, about 50 per day, and the state had about 20% more fatal crashes than the average state in 2025, even as traffic deaths fell to 380 from 420 the year before, based on preliminary state Office of Traffic Safety figures. The outlet adds that low legal minimums can shift costs to uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage after serious crashes quickly exhaust limits.
