Treasury yields climb toward 5% as oil rises and inflation heats up
MarketWatch links higher wholesale inflation readings to a jump in benchmark 10-year yields that move closer to the 5% level, while oil reaches its highest level since late May.
Treasury yields rose toward a key threshold for stocks, with the benchmark 10-year yield closing in on 5% amid renewed inflation pressures, according to MarketWatch.
The outlet said oil prices were also at their highest levels since late May, adding to the broader backdrop investors are watching.
MarketWatch attributed the bond-market move to rising wholesale inflation data, which pushed yields higher as traders recalibrated expectations around rates.
