Zelensky flight to Oslo nearly hit by drone, Norwegian PM says

The incident occurred during takeoff from Moldova and came amid temporary suspension of departures tied to two Russian drones entering Moldovan airspace.

The plane carrying Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Oslo for the funeral of Norway’s king was nearly struck by a drone during takeoff from Moldova on Tuesday, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere said to public broadcaster NRK, according to Reuters.

Stoere said the situation reflected what Zelensky is facing, though he did not provide details on the drone’s source or how close it came to the aircraft, and Moldovan officials did not comment on his remarks, Reuters reported.

Reuters also said arrivals and departures at Chisinau airport were suspended for a time on Tuesday in connection with two Russian drones that entered Moldovan airspace.

According to FlightRadar24 data cited by Reuters, several flights bound for the Moldovan capital landed at airports outside Moldova or were forced into holding patterns, with one drone landing in a field and triggering a fire and the second continuing into Romanian airspace.
