10-year Treasury yield jumps to a fresh 19-year high
Wednesday, data on the services and manufacturing sectors stoked concern the Federal Reserve may keep rates higher for longer, pushing the 10-year yield to its highest level in about 19 years.
U.S. Treasury yields moved higher on Wednesday, with the 10-year yield rising to a fresh 19-year high, CNBC Markets reported.
The outlet attributed the jump to hotter-than-expected readings tied to the services sector and the manufacturing sector.
Those data points increased worries that the Federal Reserve could pursue additional rate hikes, reinforcing expectations for higher rates.
As a result, investors shifted further toward the view that tighter policy may persist, supporting the rise in longer-dated yields.
