Chubb creates chief scientist role for AI and data strategy

Sean Ringsted will oversee Chubb Group’s AI, data and analytics strategy globally, building on prior leadership of the firm’s AI efforts.

Chubb Limited has named Sean Ringsted chief scientist and executive vice president for Chubb Group in a newly created role focused on artificial intelligence, data, and analytics strategy and initiatives worldwide, Insurance Journal reports.

The insurer said Ringsted brings more than three decades of experience at Chubb and its predecessor, ACE Group, spanning risk, digital transformation, analytics, and actuarial leadership. It noted he previously served as executive vice president and chief digital business officer, and led the company’s AI efforts globally, after serving as chief risk officer from 2008 to 2023.

Chubb also previously appointed Ringsted as chief digital officer in 2017, and earlier in his career he held roles including chief actuary, and executive and senior risk and actuarial positions tied to ACE Tempest Re. Before joining ACE, he was a consultant at Tillinghast-Towers Perrin, Insurance Journal added.

Separately, Technical Risk Underwriters, a managing general underwriter within Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, promoted Nick Hays to president earlier this year and Aaron Reissner to executive vice president. The promotions are aimed at advancing TRU’s vision for modern construction risk management through the TRU Risk Management Platform for builders’ risk projects, according to Insurance Journal.
