Coin Metrics corrects 19 months of Bitcoin ETF wallet data
The Sept. 22 notice says the change covers Bitcoin from Feb. 7, 2025 through Sept. 17, 2026, spanning 35 daily and 25 hourly ETF-related series.
Coin Metrics has issued a correction to more than 19 months of Bitcoin ETF-related on-chain data tied to the company’s identified “ETF-owned” wallet addresses, prompting users to reassess analyses built on the affected history, according to a Sept. 22 status notice reported by CryptoSlate.
The correction covers Bitcoin data from Feb. 7, 2025 through Sept. 17, 2026, and includes 35 affected daily series and 25 affected hourly series. The daily set lists measures such as ETF deposits, withdrawals, transfer counts and transactions, alongside net-flow and supply metrics derived from wallet activity.
Coin Metrics’ notice does not disclose what caused the recalculation or provide before-and-after values, aggregate differences, or whether revisions generally increased or decreased the figures. It also does not identify any specific largest adjustment or the impact on individual datasets or research built from them.
The provider notes its metrics are based on activity observed in blockchain addresses it identifies as ETF-owned, not official ETF share-creation, redemption, or issuer fund-accounting records. As a result, the company says wallet movements cannot be treated as a one-to-one proxy for authorized-participant activity, so the practical effect is limited to work that used Coin Metrics’ corrected series and may require backfilling and rerunning models and charts.
