Italian soft wheat flour exports set to near 400,000 tonnes in 2026

Exports rose 15% in the first half of 2026 to 202,654 tonnes, driven largely by record demand from the United States.

Italian soft wheat flour exports are trending higher on international markets, with first-half 2026 shipments reaching 202,654 tonnes, up nearly 15% from the same period in 2025, according to data cited by World Grain.

The growth rate is keeping 2026 year-end projections on track to reach the 400,000-tonne mark. World Grain reports the United States has taken the lead in export rankings, after recording 38% first-half growth.

Italy’s export mix shows the U.S. ahead of other destinations, with France at 9%, Germany at 11%, and Spain at 23%, World Grain said citing the Italian Association of Millers, ITALMOPA.

World Grain also notes that in 2025, exports totaled about 362,000 tonnes for soft wheat flour and 142,000 tonnes for durum wheat semolina, with soft wheat flour up 10% and durum semolina up nearly 8% versus 2024.
