Brown & Brown, Brown & Riding and Lockton add insurance leadership roles
The broker appointments come amid shifting distribution and pricing dynamics, plus data showing non-professional liability premium rose 11.2% in the first half of 2026.
Insurance brokerage firms are adding leadership and practice roles across segments including small commercial coverage, wholesale casualty, and employee benefits as they respond to changing distribution, pricing, and client demands, according to Insurance Business.
Brown & Brown appointed Jay Weber as national head of small business, a newly created role within its Retail segment. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Weber will lead strategy, growth, and modernization for the brokerage’s small commercial business, with responsibilities that include coordinating across the organization, strengthening carrier relationships, and developing distribution channels. The appointment highlights the growing importance of digital capabilities and industry knowledge, alongside Weber’s more than 20 years of property and casualty experience across underwriting, product strategy, distribution, and P&L leadership.
Brown & Riding added Jarrod Williamson to its National Casualty Practice to focus on large and complex casualty risks. Williamson brings 14 years of insurance experience and specializes in real estate, construction, and hospitality, and the hire continues a broader buildout that has included other leadership appointments during 2026. Insurance Business also noted that casualty is taking a growing share of the US E&S market, citing WSIA midyear data for 15 stamping-office states showing non-professional liability premium rose 11.2% in the first half of 2026, representing 39.6% of total surplus-lines premium, while property premium fell 13.7%.
