D.C. releases final master plan for RFK Campus mixed-use redevelopment
The plan includes up to 6,500 homes, with at least 30% affordable units required once 700 homes are built in a district.
Washington, D.C. has released its final master plan for a reimagined RFK Campus, a 180-acre site along the Anacostia River slated to become a large mixed-use destination, according to Bisnow.
The proposal would add thousands of residential units, hotels, commercial space, entertainment uses, parks, transit, and open space, with development anchored by a planned 70,000-seat Commanders stadium.
The plan submitted to the D.C. Council for review would divide the campus into six districts, envisioning up to 6,500 homes, 30% of which would be affordable. Bisnow reports the affordability requirement is tightened in the final version, specifying that once 700 residential units are built in a district, no less than 30% of units must be affordable “at all times after that.”
The final plan also expands the campus transit and technology language, including details for a proposed Gold Line bus rapid transit route, roadway improvements, parking, and electric vehicle charging, along with two standalone parking garages and an added section on interagency coordination.
