Japan PM Takaichi arrives at JFK without senior US greeting

Starkly different welcomes for Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Chinese President Xi Jinping in the United States have prompted debate about how Washington treats Tokyo as an ally, according to SCMP Economy.

SCMP Economy reports that a photo of Takaichi’s arrival showed her waving across a relatively empty tarmac at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Footage released by Takaichi’s office showed she was greeted by several Japanese officials, with no senior US representatives present.
