Penn Mutual, Protective Life add executives ahead of leadership shifts
Protective Life’s CFO and chief risk and actuarial officer roles both start October 1, ahead of Paul Wells’ CEO start on January 1, 2027.
Three insurance organizations announced leadership changes, including a new product executive at Penn Mutual and finance and risk leadership appointments at Protective Life. Penn Mutual promoted Bill Bell to chief product officer and added him to its Enterprise Leadership Team. Penn Mutual said Bell will lead its integrated product organization, which covers product development and advanced sales, and will be responsible for advancing product strategy and strengthening alignment between product and sales functions, drawing on his more than 20 years in life insurance and financial services at the company. Protective Life Corporation named Casey Hardeman as chief financial officer and Dom Lebel as chief risk and actuarial officer, with both appointments effective October 1. Protective said the changes are part of a coordinated transition ahead of Paul Wells becoming CEO on January 1, 2027, with Hardeman succeeding Wells as CFO after 18 years at Protective across financial reporting, investment accounting, reinsurance, and divisional finance. Protective also said Lebel will take on an expanded organization that brings its risk and financial actuarial functions together under a single leader for the first time, following his 2024 move from WTW where he led the Americas Life Insurance Consulting and Technology practice.
