Plymouth Rock taps Chris Taylor as president and CEO of agency group
The appointment is effective October 12, 2026, and involves Taylor’s prior independent agency experience in auto and home insurance markets in New York and Pennsylvania.
Plymouth Rock Assurance Corporation has named Chris Taylor president and chief executive officer of its Independent Agency Group, effective October 12, 2026. Insurance Business reports that Taylor returns to Plymouth Rock after serving as vice president and head of state management at The Hanover Insurance Group, where he had P and L responsibility across auto, home, and ancillary personal lines.
The move reflects Plymouth Rock’s focus on the independent agency channel. Jim Stone, Plymouth Rock’s founder and chairman, said the hire underscores the company’s commitment to independent agents and their role in building long term partnerships and providing personal guidance for insurance shoppers.
Taylor previously worked at Plymouth Rock and helped lead its entry into the New York and Pennsylvania auto insurance markets through the independent agency channel. Insurance Business also notes that at The Hanover he built independent agency relationships, expanded the company’s portfolio, and helped drive profitable countrywide personal lines growth, while supporting new product launches including a high net worth offering.
For Plymouth Rock agents currently appointed with the carrier, the return is described as notable because Taylor brings direct experience from building agency relationships in specific state markets, and he is also returning with additional leadership experience from a direct competitor. Plymouth Rock said it expects Taylor to work alongside the existing team and agent partners to create new opportunities to grow together.
