Abbas warns of a dangerous phase for Palestinians in UN address
Abbas delivered the speech through a pre-recording after Washington denied US visas to the Palestinian delegation, according to SCMP Economy.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned that Palestinians were entering “one of the most dangerous phases” in their history in a pre-recorded address to the United Nations General Assembly, with the Palestinian delegation denied US visas by Washington, SCMP Economy reported.
In the speech, Abbas accused Israel of waging a “genocidal war” in Gaza and “fragmenting” the occupied West Bank through settlement expansion, warning that “settler terrorism” was rising.
He also said Israel’s actions now threaten more than the two-state solution, adding that the lives and even the existence of Palestinians in their homeland are at risk.
