NZ dollar holds near 0.5665 as dollar slips
NZD/USD was about 0.5665, while the US Dollar Index fell 0.22% to roughly 101.0 even as the 10-year US Treasury yield stayed near 5.19%.
The New Zealand dollar held near 0.5665 against the US dollar on Friday, trading virtually unchanged as the US dollar saw moderate selling pressure, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet said the US Dollar Index, which tracks the greenback versus six major currencies, slipped 0.22% to about 101.00 after hitting 101.40 on Thursday, its highest level in nearly two months.
The article added that the benchmark 10-year US Treasury yield was steady around 5.19%, slightly below Thursday’s peak of 5.22%, even as investors weighed mixed US economic signals.
FXStreet cited the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index, which came in at 48.1 in September versus a preliminary 47.6, while noting inflation expectations stayed elevated, with the one-year measure at 4.6% and the five-year expectation still high, according to the outlet.
