Silver rises toward $65 as the US dollar and Treasury yields pause
XAG/USD was up 1.9% to about $65, while the dollar index was near 101.1 and 10-year Treasury yields had eased from a 19-year high of 5.2% to around 5.1%.
Silver prices rose in European trading, with XAG/USD gaining 1.85% to near $65.00 on Friday, as strength in the US dollar and US Treasury yields appeared to pause, FXStreet reported.
At the time of writing, the US Dollar Index was up 0.2% to around 101.05, while 10-year US Treasury yields had pulled back from a 19-year high of 5.22% to near 5.15%.
FXStreet said the move reflects a general relationship where easing yields can improve the appeal of non-yielding assets like silver, though it added that the outlook for the dollar and yields remains supported by the Federal Reserve’s higher for longer stance.
