VLCC ship-to-ship crude transfer capacity off Oman hits limits

Capacity for ship-to-ship transfers of crude oil off the coast of Oman has reached its limits, Reuters reported, citing unnamed trading sources and analysts.

The constraint followed Saudi Arabia diverting crude flows from the port of Yanbu amid Houthi attacks.

Oil from Saudi Arabia had been routed through smaller carriers and transferred for shipment via ship-to-ship operations off Oman, but that capacity has now been strained.

The report also said Saudi Arabia has sold about 60 million barrels of crude for shipment from the Gulf of Oman after the diversions.
