Houthi attacks test the limits of Saudi Pakistan Turkey defense pact
Military chiefs meeting in Riyadh emphasized intelligence cooperation, military coordination, and capability integration, but did not detail what support Pakistan and Turkey would provide.
Just a month after Saudi Arabia signed a regional mutual defense deal with Pakistan and Turkey, attacks by Yemen’s Houthis targeting Saudi energy infrastructure and military sites are testing the pact’s limits, according to the Saudi Press Agency as reported by SCMP Economy.
SCMP Economy reports that at a hastily convened meeting of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in Riyadh, the three countries’ military chiefs reaffirmed their commitment to collective defense.
The agency said the discussions focused on “intelligence cooperation, military coordination, and capability integration to strengthen deterrence and collective defence,” but it did not say what military support Pakistan and Ankara would provide Saudi Arabia.
