Experts warn of further downside for India’s Nifty and Sensex
Nifty 50 ended the week down 0.9%, extending a seven-week losing streak, while Bank Nifty fell 1.4% to 55,580.
India-focused market experts said there is more downside ahead for Dalal Street, with the Nifty 50 at risk of breaking below key support levels around 23,000 and 22,800. LiveMint Markets said the Nifty 50 ended the week down nearly 0.9% to close at 23,140.
According to the report, Bank Nifty fell 1.4% to 55,580, while the Sensex dropped 1.1%, losing 843 points over the last five sessions. It also noted the Nifty 50 has logged a seven-week losing streak, the longest in the past six years.
The experts cited a bearish signal on the weekly chart, suggesting potential weakness if support levels fail. They also forecast a topping out of the Indian market in October 2026, alongside an expectation that the US 10-year Treasury yield would peak in October 2026 ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections, tying the outlook to pressure on the US government amid high inflation, defense spending, and a debt crisis.
