Diesel export ban under consideration as supply crunch worsens
Analysts say an export ban could lift global diesel prices and, through refinery adjustments, raise U.S. gasoline prices.
CNBC reports that Donald Trump is “very seriously” considering a diesel export ban amid worsening global supply tightness.
According to analysts cited by CNBC Markets and CNBC World, such a move could backfire by increasing global diesel prices.
The analysts also warn that higher diesel costs could flow through to U.S. gasoline prices as refiners adjust their supply and production.
