Hong Kong trade body lifts 2026 export growth forecast on AI demand
The Trade Development Council raised its June midyear outlook to 20.0% growth from an earlier 8.0% to 9.0% estimate.
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council has sharply increased its forecast for Hong Kong export growth in 2026, citing stronger-than-expected global demand for artificial intelligence-related products, according to SCMP Economy.
The council now expects export growth in 2026 of up to 47.0%, after revising its outlook in June to 20.0% growth from an earlier estimate of 8.0% to 9.0%.
In its latest survey of the city’s major exporters, the council also found business confidence and market expectations remained strong and optimistic in the third quarter of 2026.
