Tata Group shares rise more than 6% as wider market slips
Tata Teleservices opened at ₹35.01 and hit an intraday high of ₹37.90, while the Nifty 50 fell 0.93% and the Sensex dropped 0.90%.
Tata Group shares surged more than 6% on the NSE in Monday trading even as broader sentiment in India weakened. Tata Teleservices opened at ₹35.01 per share, compared with a previous close of ₹34.44 on Friday, and climbed to an intraday high of ₹37.90.
Indian equity benchmarks opened lower on Monday, weighed by elevated crude oil prices, weakness in the rupee, and rising global bond yields. The Nifty 50 was down 215 points, or 0.93%, at 22,925.50, while the BSE Sensex declined 665.36 points, or 0.90%, to 73,230.38.
The rally in Tata Teleservices shares was accompanied by higher trading activity, with about 569.36 lakh shares changing hands during the session, according to NSE data. The stock move also followed the company reporting a standalone net loss of ₹72.15 crore for the first quarter of FY27.
