Three killed as crowded dinghy runs into trouble crossing Channel
Authorities said the dinghy left Sangatte at about 5:15am carrying 105 people and called for rescue around 8:00am about six kilometres offshore.
A 10-year-old child and two women died on Monday during an illegal crossing of the English Channel from France to the UK, French authorities said, adding that they were apparently trampled on a packed boat.
According to SCMP Economy, the dinghy departed from the Sangatte area in northern France at around 5:15am with 105 people aboard.
French authorities said the boat ran into difficulty after passengers asked for help, and rescue services were called at about 8:00am when the vessel was roughly six kilometres off the coast.
