UK diesel prices hit record as Middle East conflict disrupts oil

RAC data shows diesel has risen 59p a litre, about 40%, since the US-Israel war with Iran began at the end of February.

Diesel prices on UK forecourts have hit an all-time high of 199.18p per litre, the RAC motoring organisation said, pointing to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East for the surge.

According to BBC Business, the US-Israel war with Iran has disrupted the production and transportation of wholesale oil across the region over the past seven months, pushing up the cost of fuels made from oil.

The RAC said diesel has moved into “uncharted territory” and highlighted the UK’s exposure to distant events, while the cost of filling an average family car with diesel has risen to £110, £31 more than at the start of the conflict.

Guardian Business also cited the same record level, saying the conflict continues to drive the average diesel bill for motorists to historic highs.
