UnitedHealthcare promotes Robert “Bobby” Hunter to president
The division covered 48.5 million people as of June 30, as its fully insured employer business continues to shrink and group clients face steep cost increases.
UnitedHealthcare promoted Robert "Bobby" Hunter to president of the insurer's division, with the change announced on LinkedIn. Hunter, a longtime Medicare executive, spent about 15 years at UnitedHealth Group and most recently led its government programs business, the company confirmed.
UnitedHealthcare said Tim Noel will remain chief executive of the division. The insurer covered 48.5 million people as of June 30, and the move comes as its fully insured employer business keeps shrinking, while group clients are facing some of the steepest cost increases in two decades.
The company did not specify which parts of the business would report to Hunter, or who would take over government programs. Hunter previously became president of the Medicare business in 2024, and most recently oversaw government programs where he announced last year's cutbacks, including UnitedHealthcare's exit from Medicare Advantage in 16 markets and a shift away from PPO plans toward HMOs.
