US and Iran indirect talks set to resume as mediators meet

Ahead of the talks, the US Dollar Index edged up 0.08% to around 101.10, while WTI held gains after pulling back from an intraday high of $95.02.

The United States and Iran are expected to resume indirect talks as early as Monday or Tuesday, according to an official briefed on the negotiations cited by Reuters, with mediators holding separate discussions with US and Iranian representatives.

Reuters also said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Qatari mediators remained in the US ahead of the talks, which are expected to focus on an amended version of a seven-day proposal presented by Iran during the UN General Assembly.

In financial markets, Reuters reported a relatively muted reaction to the latest diplomatic developments, with the US Dollar Index (DXY) rising 0.08% on Monday to trade around 101.10.

WTI oil, meanwhile, retreated slightly from an intraday high of $95.02 but remained up 2.66% on Monday, trading around $93.80 per barrel, Reuters said.
