USD/JPY rises toward 157.75 as BoJ minutes and Fed outlook weigh on JPY
FXStreet said spot pricing held its gains after the release of Bank of Japan minutes, while Japan intervention risks and USD strength kept the yen pressured.
USD/JPY moved higher in the Asian session, rising to around 157.75 as the pair attracted dip-buyers and reversed part of Friday’s pullback from a multi-week high, according to FXStreet.
FXStreet attributed the yen’s muted reaction to the Bank of Japan minutes, noting members agreed financial conditions remain accommodative and firms are steadily passing on rising raw material costs, which helps keep inflation elevated.
The outlet said U.S. Dollar dynamics were the main driver, with a hawkish Fed outlook and energy-driven inflation fears supporting elevated U.S. bond yields near multi-year highs.
FXStreet also pointed to geopolitical risks tied to the U.S.-Iran standoff as a factor boosting the safe-haven U.S. dollar, while renewed speculation about possible yen intervention did not meaningfully move the market.
