AMD to buy World Labs for $8.2 billion in an all-stock deal
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2026 and would bring World Labs research and spatial-intelligence model expertise into AMD.
US chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices has agreed to acquire World Labs, an artificial intelligence start-up founded by computer scientist Li Fei-Fei, for $8.2 billion in an all-stock transaction, according to an announcement reported by SCMP Economy.
The deal is expected to close by the end of this year, with AMD planning to integrate World Labs’ research team and its spatial-intelligence model expertise into its own operations.
