European MGA market seen as growth opportunity
Bridgehaven’s CEO said European MGA premium was about USD 23 billion in 2025 and has been growing faster than the US market.
Fiona Marry, European CEO of specialty insurer Bridgehaven, said the managed general agent, or MGA, model is a significant growth opportunity for Continental Europe as the region moves toward a more MGA-centric market over time, according to Reinsurance News.
Marry said Continental Europe is not simply a smaller version of the UK or US MGA market, highlighting that it is more fragmented, with different regulatory environments, distribution models, languages, and underwriting cultures.
She added that beneath that fragmentation there is a rapidly developing MGA ecosystem, and she pointed to European MGA premium of about USD 23 billion in 2025, saying that growth has been faster than the US.
Marry also said European MGA growth is increasingly focused on quality, with the market becoming more concentrated and factors like profitability, differentiation, and carrier confidence mattering more than premium growth alone.
